Restaurant Email Marketing
What our current restaurant owners say about email marketing…
We surveyed our current restaurant owners and asked the following question about email marketing. “What specific problems in your business does email marketing help you solve?” The top responses included:
- Keeps their name in front of current customers
- Helps retain existing customers
- Keeps current customers informed about their restaurant
- Puts coupons in the hands of cost conscious customers
The general conclusion was given the low cost nature of email marketing relative to print and other advertising, email marketing is definitely worth the investment.
But our current restaurant owners want more…
Our survey then asked the restaurant owners, “What problems do you wish email marketing would help solve?” While some owners felt email marketing helped to increase sales, the overwhelming response was restaurant owners wish it could help get more NEW customers. That is why many continue to use local print advertising. It is also why many are looking at how they can take advantage of social media. Some have even tried daily deal sites like Groupon or Living Social to find that ellusive “new” customer.
So what attracts a new customer to your restaurant?
Certainly it is no secret about the power of word of mouth. And in today’s connected world word can spread very fast. Casual conversation among friends, family and co-workers is probably the number one way people will hear about a new restaurant or a restaurant in town that they have just never tried. The stronger your friend’s recommendation the more likely you are to give it a try.
Great Deal plus a Great Recommendation equals New Customers
Combine a friend’s strong recommendation with a great deal and you have the formula for getting a NEW customer in the door. Isn’t that what Groupon is all about? I’m on Groupon’s email list. I’ve passed on a lot of deals. But occasionally I’ve come across a restaurant that I have been to before running the typical 50% off Groupon Deal. It’s a no brainer. I have also taken the time to tell some friends and family about the deal so they can take advantage of it as well. That’s how restaurants get new customers using Groupon.
How we help get you new customers…
Provide your customers a “Groupon- like” deal to join your email club. In your welcome email and on-going email messages encourage customers to share your email club signup form with friends, family and co-workers so they can get the same deal. Not only will you get new customers but you also build your email club list at the same time.
You control the coupon usage of your great welcome deal
With the That’s Biz system you can limit coupon usage by individual customers or by total customers. Your “Welcome” offer can be restricted to a single use. When your customer clicks on the coupon we will assign it to your customer by name in our system. Using a simple redemption method you record the usage of the coupon in the system when your customer provides the coupon.
No more coupon abuse
That’s because it doesn’t matter what the piece of paper says or how many times a customer copied the coupon, once we redeem the coupon in our system that coupon is no longer valid for that customer. If your customer tries to use it again the system will tell you the customer’s name, that it is no longer valid and the date the customer used the coupon. We’ll even check the coupon against the expiration date and show you what the promotion is in the system just to make sure the coupon wasn’t edited.
If you want to limit your overall exposure on a great deal just set the total number of customers that can use the coupon. We’ll tell your customer how many coupons are still available every time they click on the coupon link.
Even better usage control than print advertising…
Have you ever sent out a great deal in direct mail or print only to have your best customers get their hands on several of the copies from friends and family? With our e-coupon that can’t happen. That’s because we record the use in our system by the individual that used the coupon. If the coupon is restricted to a single use and the customer tries to use it again even at another location you will get a message telling you the coupon is no longer valid and the date the customer used the coupon.
Smartphone Paperless Redemption – More Convenient for You and Your Customers
Have your email marketing customers asked to show you a coupon on a smartphone instead of printing it out? How about over-the-phone redemption when placing a take-out or delivery order? No problem. You can redeem right from their smartphone or you can have your customer provide a short code on the coupon. That code tells you everything you need to know to redeem it using a web connected device.
Customer and Promotion Knowledge You Never Had Before
Our current restaurant owners have told us that who opened their email messages and what they clicked on is interesting but not what they really want to know. They want to know:
- How many coupons were redeemed
- What promotions resulted in the best redemptions
- What customers are using the most promotions
- What customer shared a specific coupon with the most friends
- Who are the most frequent users of coupons
- What zip code redeems the most coupons
That information is now available to them using our That’s Biz system.
Combining the Power of Email Marketing and Facebook
Would it be convenient to post your offers on your Facebook page at the same time they are sent to your customers in your email messages? That’s exactly what you can do with our system. Just specify that the offer is to be posted on Facebook and it will show up on your Facebook page on the same date as your email message. It will also automatically remove from your Facebook page after it expires. (Click on Facebook Fan Page for our Facebook offerings.)
Whoa – This all sounds like a lot of work!
It would be if you had to do all of this stuff yourself. That’s what makes our service unique in the industry. We create the messages for you. We handle all of the coding and integrating of the coupons into great looking email messages. Best of all is we do all of this for less than our “full-service” competitors.
So who is That’s Biz?
Here are some facts.
- We only handle restaurants.
- We email market on behalf of thousands of locations over the course of a year.
- We have sent millions of email messages to millions of customers.
- We are the only service that can limit offers and tell you who is using them.
